4th MAY 2012 - RES APPEALS WIND FARM DECISION
RES is appealing against Maldon District Council's decision to turn down its planning application for a 7-turbine wind farm at Turncole Farm citing that the Council's Planning Committee has neglected to acknowledge the demonstrable need for the UK to develop more sustainable ways of producing electricity.
RES submitted plans for Turncole Wind Farm on 30th June 2011 but on 24th October 2011 the Council's Planning Committee voted to refuse the planning application on the predominant basis of visual impact.
Jon Knight, Development Project Manager for Turncole Wind Farm, commented:
"We believe we have a very strong case for appeal. We have spent several years undertaking detailed studies of the site and believe that Turncole Wind Farm will be an asset to the area by taking advantage of the excellent wind speeds to help secure a clean and renewable electricity supply."
A date and venue for the public inquiry will be announced in due course.
