Turncole Wind Farm

TURNCOLE WIND FARM

RES is pleased to introduce plans for a new wind farm at Turncole Farm, located to the south east of Southminster and north east of Burnham on Crouch in the Maldon District of Essex. The site location is shown below.

Our studies show that the site has potential for seven turbines. Each turbine would be up to 127m high, to the tip of the blade.

The turbine layout is shown below.

A seven turbine wind farm would have an indicative installed capacity of at least 12.6MW. A wind farm of this size would be likely to generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of approximately 7,600 homes*, or all of the homes within the wards of Burnham on Crouch North, Burnham on Crouch South, Southminster, Tillingham and Althorne.

We are confident that this is a very good site for a wind farm and that a sensitively- designed project will be an asset to the area. We will submit a planning application to Maldon District Council following the completion of our environmental investigations. We will keep the local community informed on when the application is to be submitted.

We will be updating this website as plans for the wind farm evolve, so please keep an eye out for future updates.

*Based on a conservative capacity factor of 32.3%, derived from the NOABL database. This figure may change in the future as further wind speed monitoring data becomes available. An average household electricity consumption figure of 4,700kWh/year was used in the calculation.
